With a moderate climate, a unique blend of rural and urban amenities, and comprehensive medical facilities, South Central Ontario has it all.

Art Gallery of Hamilton

In May 2005 the new Art Gallery of Hamilton opened to the public. The gallery has a history dating back to 1914 and has become one of Ontario's largest public gallery. The art gallery of Hamilton recently received a gift of over 200 works of nineteenth-century European Art. The profile of the Art Gallery of Hamilton collection is now focused in Canadian Historical, Contemporary, and European Historical. There is something for all age groups. Hamilton's vibrant performing arts scene entertains after hours. Take in live theatre with Theatre Aquarius, Hamilton Place and for the more eclectic Hamilton's Staircase Theatre as well as The Pearl Company and children's performing arts with the Great Big Theatre Company.  Our surrounding communities also offer performing arts through Dundas Little Theatre located in Dundas and in Waterdown Village Theatre

Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra, Opera Hamilton and the Boris Brott Music Festival offers over 40 concerts and educational sessions per year and Copps Coliseum offers a wide variety entertainment and concert events as well as sports events for all age groups.  A short distance from Hamilton enjoy live theatre at Shaw Festival at Niagara-on-the-Lake and the unique Shakespearian theatre at the Stratford Festival.

Bayfront Park Hamilton

From the shores of Lake Ontario to the Niagara Escarpment and beyond South Central Ontario is home to some of the most beautiful trails. The Bruce Trail goes right through Hamilton and the surrounding area and offers scenic views of the Niagara Escarpment.  For inline skating or enjoy walking or running along the waterfront trail at Hamilton's Bayfront Park; the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club caters to the sailing enthusiast; while rowers head to the Leander Boat Club. Hamilton's City Parks are also recreational for both adults and children. For horticulturists of all ages a must see is The Royal Botanical Gardens and also offers over 2000 acres of trails to hike.

Nowhere is Hamilton's energy more evident than it its sporting spirit.  There are a multitude of sports facilities available for your recreational pursuits including Community Centres and Arenas.  Hamilton's is home to Hamilton Tiger Cats and McMaster Marauders football teams and for the hockey enthusiast our Hamilton Bulldogs are the 2007 Calder Cup Champions.

McMaster University has an Off-Campus Resource Centre (OCRC) which provides many services, such as listings of available rental units, free telephone service to contact landlords and information about housing by-laws, the Tenant Protection Act, and relevant municipal and provincial statutes.
