Welcome!  Thanks for taking the time to learn about McMaster’s Family Medicine residency program and the exciting opportunities we have to offer.  This website will offer a comprehensive overview of our program, and introduce our seven different teaching sites: Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo (KW), Brampton, Niagara, Halton, Grand Erie Six Nations and Rural.

The site that you choose will serve as your "home base" for your two-year program.  While each site has distinctive features and offerings, all McMaster residents experience a common curriculum.  It may be helpful to know that each site represents a separate CaRMS option, including each of our rural sites, in order to enable applicants some control over their

McMaster residents can tailor their learning experience to their professional interests through site and preceptor placements, elective choices, enhanced skills offerings, the research stream or by choosing from different practice settings: rural, urban community-based or urban teaching unit.

In whatever setting you choose, you will work alongside some of McMaster’s award winning faculty learning in an interprofessional model of care. The preceptor-resident dyad forms the foundation for learning throughout the two years.  Early exposures to other health disciplines through practice experience and core rotations broaden our residents’ clinical knowledge base and improve the quality of care for patients.

Best of luck with your future medical career regardless of the profession or program you ultimately choose.
