How to Apply

Overview

The PGY3 Enhanced Skills Program receives applications from current PGY2 residents who are registered in a Canadian residency program. Residents interested in pursuing an Enhanced Skills position apply in the fall of their second year.  

  • Application Opens:  August 22, 2016
  • Application Deadline:  October 7, 2016
  • Interviews:  October 11 – December 8, 2016
  • Offer Date:  December 9, 2016
  • Acceptance Date:  December 15, 2016

Residents may apply for funding for an Urban Setting, Rural Setting, or both. Only one application needs to be submitted. Rural applications must be for at least six months.

 

General Application Requirements

Each applicant will submit the following when applying to a PGY3 Enhanced Skills Program:

  1. Completed Application Form 
  2. Updated curriculum vitae.
    • Including any advanced life support courses and electives
  3. A letter including the following:
    • Your goals and objectives for the program
    • How the added experience will fit with your future practice needs
    • The ways you might be better enabled to contribute to the community, the Department of Family Medicine, or the discipline of Family Medicine in general
  4. A letter of support from your Program Director which speaks to your academic performance and professionalism.
  5. Two letters of support from referees who can speak to your professionalism and interpersonal skills.

*Please note: Applications for the Ministry of Health Re-Entry Program are submitted through the Ministry of Health.

Timeline for Applications

Application Deadline: All application packages must be received by October 7, 2016

Letters of Offer:  Letters of Offer to successful candidates will be mailed on December 9, 2016

Confirmation of Acceptance:  Confirmation of Acceptance into an Enhanced Skills Program from successful candidates needs to be received by December 15, 2016
