Karen Trollope-Kumar has been affiliated with the Department of Family Medicine for the past 18 years.
She worked as a community physician at the McMaster Family Practice site from 2004-2014, and was actively involved in teaching of clinical clerks and residents. At the Michael DeGroote School of Medicine, she worked as a tutor and a longitudinal facilitator, and later served as Co-Director of the Professional Competencies program from 2008-2014.
She recently made a major career change, handing over her practice to two colleagues at McMaster Family Practice and taking a position at the Grand River Community Health Centre in Brantford. Although she no longer works full-time at McMaster Family Practice, she maintains a connection by doing some locum work for her former colleagues.
She and her husband Pradeep Kumar spend part of each year in India, where they had worked earlier in their careers. She’s written a memoir about the time they spent in India, entitled The Cloud Messenger, which is due to be published in mid-2016.
